First meal in London, fish and chips! The place was really good and the family enjoyed it. However, I feel like it was rather expensive for looking like a hole in the wall ... also, there was no air conditioning, so didn't feel as comfortable eating as I'd like.
All that stuff aside, can't go wrong with eatinghwre and based off other Yelp reviews, it was just what we wanted and needed. Plus, it was walking distance from our hotel.
You do get some free shrimp to start off with! -

Stopped in for dinner after a day of sightseeing and touristy stuff and my short walk from Waterloo station was well reward. Excellent fish and chips in a cheap and cheerful local shop. Not a large place, and there are as many tables crammed in as possible (it's not midtown Manhattan tight, but it's close). Dinner service is a brisk business, with a mix of locals and out of towners chowing down, along with a constant stream of carry out orders.
I had the Superbites (Cod, Plaice, Huss, and Haddock). I'd be lying if I said I could tell the difference between them, but they were all delicious. Crispety crunchity fluffy coating with delicate and juicy fish inside. No hint of funkiness or anything that would indicate fish that wasn't fresh. A big serving a chips came on the side and I also had mushy peas and curry sauce (for dipping). The mushy peas and curry sauce were completely forgettable and not worth ordering at all, but the chips were fantastic. -

In a land where fish and chippers are just about everywhere, this one is a standout. It has a very busy takeout counter, the line to which somewhat blocks the dining room entrance. The dining room is a rather cramped affair that does have adequate tables to handle the traffic.
In addition to the usual fish offerings, there are some good non-fish ones as well. All come with chips. In addition, bread, a dish of pickles and onions and in shell prawns arrive before the dinners. I don't quite understand the relevance of the pickles and onions. The bread arrives without butter, a not so good thing. They also provide huge goblets of ketchup and tarter sauce.
I ordered cod. I asked to sub cole slaw for the chips. However, I was told the only sub allowed was a salad for an additional GP 1.75. This seemed a bit short sighted and cheapish considering a side of cole slaw goes for less than a side of chips on the menu. I opted to get chips.
The fish and the chips were excellent and done just right. The side of cole slaw was good but ordinary.
In short, this place is definitely worth a visit. -

Well, fish and chips, good quality, fresh fish, ok-ish chips, nice free starters - prawns and pickles.
Looks nice.
